What the ....

This is what greeted me when I opened the back door this morning!

I thought my fence was on fire!

Er, no, silly! The sun was making the damp wood steam. I think that was pretty weird. I've been here, ooo, 12 years or thereabouts and have never seen that happen before. Mr B was tempted to remark that I was never up early enough, but I interjected and he thought better of it.

But, oh joy, what better weather today. Glorious sun, 2 lots of washing drying outside. Fabby.

A big welcome to 2 new followers, via Sprinkle of Glitter, I think. (More on Lou later. Woohoo, I met Lou!). Susy and linzibob. Hello girls! How very lovely that you have joined my happy gang!!

Katrine

This wasn't what I had intended my next post to be.

To read of the passing of an ex-boss brought back some happy memories of such a particular time and events.

Catherine -or as we called her, 'Katrine', always used to make Mr Blossom so welcome in the shop when he would come to meet me from work. For all the salubrious setting and clients, she would usher him in, in his work clothes and get him a stool to sit on while he would wait for me. We'd then cross over the road to the churchyard and watch Concorde flying in to Heathrow. 20 past 6, on the dot.

My thoughts go out to Sayeed and her two girls.

Just a little note to say how happy I am to see Mel Mel and Mel back in blogland.

Moo!

Alex did a post, here, which included that her favourite flower was the freesia. Which, of course, made me think of this sketch, from a programme called "Green Wing", made by the same people who did "Smack the Pony". (See here).

I've also mentioned freesias in my 'A Fond Farewell' post.

And talking of Friesians - look who we found!

The Moosterious Lion

We'd gone into town for the Bicycle Basket Bazaar last Saturday, and I was having a mega panic attack. Arthur suggested that we go for a coffee in Park Inn, which we did, and there he was, minding his own business in the hotel lobby. He'd only arrived the day before, and a couple came in to take their picture with him. They were real fans and apparently the internet site, had been giving clues as he moved to various locations.

I think he is really cute. There was a picture of him and Earl Spencer, (the late Princess of Wales' brother), in the grounds of their ancestral home, Althorp, in the local paper on Saturday. He gets around, that lion.

Better go and check my back garden, sharpish!

Have a roaringly good week,

When Times Is 'ard!

When times are hard we expect our cats to chip in with the household expenses.
So, luckily enough, they do the biz and go out on tour.

Here is Tabby Templemeads looking grim while waiting for the train to pull out of Bristol (Temple Meads) station.

She can be very good at glowering. Rave reviews, encores, the lot.

Meanwhile, Rene can't wait to pack her 'Business Woman of the Year' briefcase.

Another New Month

Gosh, August seemed a very long month. The "August Break" was a great thing to do, but with the laptop woes, it turned into, as the last post said, a 'boot camp'-type thing! There are still several pictures that I want to download.

But I think I'm getting one mended laptop back this evening...hurrah!
